Balch, Emily Greene
(8 ene. 1867, Jamaica Plain, Mass., EE.UU.– 9 ene. 1961, Cambridge, Mass.).

Socióloga estadounidense y activista de la paz. Asistió al Bryn Mawr College y, a partir de 1896, fue profesora de Wellesley College. Fundó un centro comunitario en Boston y perteneció a comisiones estaduales sobre relaciones industriales (1908–09) e inmigración (1913–14). En 1918 perdió su cargo de profesora por su oposición a la entrada de EE.UU. en la primera guerra mundial. En 1919, junto con Jane Addams, colaboró en la fundación de la Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (Liga internacional de mujeres por la paz y la libertad). En 1946 compartió el Premio Nobel de la Paz con John R. Mott (n. 1865–m. 1955).
